Experience You Can Trust

Scott Cruz

FOUNDER AND IRS PROFESSIONAL

Scott Cruz holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Accounting. He began his professional career as a Finance Clerk at Laurelglen Bible Church, where he maintained the books and financial records. He later advanced to the role of Tax Preparer and Bookkeeper with Brennan-Millan & Company, where he deepened his expertise in finance and taxation.

Scott went on to serve as a Revenue Agent with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), conducting audits of tax returns for individuals, small businesses, partnerships, and corporations (both C and S types). His time with the IRS greatly enhanced his ability to analyze complex financial statements and assess compliance across diverse entities.

Through these experiences, Scott recognized that many individuals and businesses struggle to maintain accurate financial records and fully understand their financial position. He also observed that relying solely on a CPA or accountant does not provide the same assurance as personally understanding one’s financial operations, a key factor in achieving long-term stability.

Scott believes that financial literacy is fundamental to both personal and organizational success. A clear understanding of finances enables informed decisions, reduces uncertainty, and promotes sustainable growth. Building on his years of auditing and advisory experience, Scott founded Fortified Financials to help business owners stay one step ahead of the IRS. Drawing on his insider expertise, he developed a proactive tax defense and financial management program designed to prevent problems before they arise, empowering clients with clarity, compliance, and control.

Fortified Financials FAQs

  • No service can guarantee that. What Fortified Financials does is reduce your audit risk by helping you correct inconsistencies, organize documentation, and understand how the IRS reviews filings.

  • Small to mid-sized businesses with $1M–$50M in revenue looking to strengthen compliance and build long-term financial stability.

  • Most CPAs focus on filing taxes correctly and on time. A proactive review goes deeper — looking at patterns, red flags, and potential risk areas from an IRS perspective. It’s prevention, not reaction.

  • We provide bookkeeping as part of our service offerings but do not file taxes. Instead, we ensure your books and records are clean, accurate, and ready for seamless filing with your CPA or tax preparer.

  • All client data is handled through encrypted, SOC 2-compliant systems. Files are transmitted through secure portals, and all engagements are protected under strict confidentiality agreements.

  • Yes. We can coordinate with your current accounting professionals to strengthen systems, improve communication, and ensure consistent, compliant financial reporting.

  • No. Fortified Financials is a preventive service, not legal representation. The goal is to identify potential audit triggers early and help you correct or strengthen your records before the IRS ever reaches out.
